Sept 10th 2011 The Harborne Orchestra Wind Quintet performed at Artsfest (http://www.artsfest.org.uk/) again after a year off. This year the venue was the HMS Daring Room in the Council house, which proved to be ideal for our chamber repertoire. We played arrangements of Handel's Water Music, and Debussy's Golliwog, the outrageous Beethoven's Fifth Bossa Nova, and signed out with The Entertainer. Fortunately the audience seemed to like what they heard!

Sept 9th 2011 We have started back for the new term, preparing for our Christmas Concert on 10th December. This is an exciting new venture for us, in which we are teaming up with Clare Edwards' choir Notorious (http://www.notoriouschoir.org/) to perform Mozart's Requiem at Ladywood ARC ( http://livebrum.co.uk/2011/12/10/mozart-requiem ). We worked with Clare on The City Sings last year, and expect this will be just as enjoyable. But it is a big score with lots to learn to play.
Friday 15th July 2010 We held our Summer Concert in the church of St Mary, Bearwood High Street. The programme included Vaughan Williams'  Fantasia on 'Greensleeves', Ravel's famous Pavane and Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave Overture, plus a feature from our very own Harborne Wind Quintet including Mozart's Divertimento No 8. We received our usual very warm welcome from the congregation, and the evening was enjoyed by all present.
April 8th 2011 We played our Easter Concert at St Mary's Church, Harborne. The orchestra's programme contained Copland's little known John Henry 'railroad ballad', complete with train whistle effects, and a suite taken from the Titanic movie. We were joined by Birmingham Bassoon Choir, who brought their distinctive sound to arrangements of Mama Mia and Moon River!
Dec 12th 2010 We had a most enjoyable concert on the 10th, and the next things to look out for will be the New Year Meal, and the start of rehearsals in January.
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Dec 5th 2010 The planned concert for Saturday 11th December at the Queen Alexandra College has been cancelled.
New Year Meal -- This will be held again at the Garden House, Hagley Road, on Friday 7th January 2011 starting at 7.00 pm.
Rehearsals begin on Friday 14th January 2011.
April 5th 2010 On EASTER MONDAY...as part of InterChat10 we are playing at The City Sings, 4pm, 5th April, Adrian Boult Hall Paradise Place, Birmingham B3 3HG
